Important Events

Michigan CEC Annual Conference: The 84th Annual Michigan CEC Conference will be in person in Grand Rapids on February 28, 29 and March 1, 2024. The conference features six 1/2 Wednesday workshops, Friday we will hear a state-of-the-state address with the Office of Special Education Director, Teri Rink and the keynote speaker, Dr. Muhammad Khalifia will take place on Friday morning. There will be breakout sessions on Thursday and Friday of the conference with a special student strand for both days. 

The Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education, assists Michigan CEC in providing a student stipend which allows full time, undergraduate students to attend the MCEC Conference at a HIGHLY discounted rate! ALL college students are eligible! Reduced rates for all full time undergraduate AND graduate students (prices are subject to change):

  • All three days: $45
  • Wednesday plus 1 day: $45
  • Wednesday only: $25
  • Thursday and Friday (1 or 2 days): $20

Mark your calendars for the 2024 MCEC Conference that will be held February 28, 29 and March 1, 2024!

MCEC has secured a significantly reduced rate for hotel rooms for students. The only way to get the $139.00 rate is to make the reservation online at this link. Please use the code "College84" to secure that rate. If you call the Amway to make the reservation, you will not get the student rate. The only way to get the student rate is to reserve the rooms online with the code.

All rooms in this block will be 2 queen rooms.  The Amway will put all students on one floor for networking opportunities with other students. 

CEC-S Goals for 2023-2024
1. As a CEC-S Board, our goal is to collaborate with college CEC-S chapters across Michigan to increase membership.
2. As a CEC-S Board, our goal is to provide resources and opportunities to connect with local policy makers to be a voice about the current legislation and events happening in the special education field.
3. As a CEC-S Board, our goal is to provide high quality, research-based presentations at the State Conference that are valuable to individuals that work with students with exceptionalities.
4. As a CEC-S Board, our goal is to increase awareness about available professional development opportunities offered to MCEC members.
