December Newsletter

Angie

Greetings!

I hope this message finds you well and in good health.

Our next available professional development opportunity will be in January 2021 and it will focus on do’s and don'ts related to FAPE, complaints, and compensatory education. You don’t want to miss it! More information about upcoming professional development opportunities can be found on the MCEC website located here: http://www.michigancec.org

As a reminder, the MCEC 81st Annual Conference will be held March 3-5, 2021. The conference registration and proposal portals are available. We hope that you will join us! Register early and save the dates on your calendar. You can visit the MCEC website for the most up-to-date conference information.

Finally, I would like to encourage your participation in some legislative advocacy. Please consider joining CEC in advocating for increased funding for special education for the 2021 fiscal year. This funding is needed to support infants, toddlers, children and youth with exceptionalities and/or gifts and talents. Please visit the CEC Legislative Action Center to send a letter to your US Senators and Representatives.

As the upcoming winter break approaches, it is my hope that you all are able to take some time out for yourself. Perhaps you are able to treat yourself to something fun or reconnect with friends and family. Whatever you do, I hope it is enjoyable!

You all have done great work during these unprecedented and ever-changing times. Your resilience is admirable! I am wishing you a relaxing winter break. If you’d like to give me a shout, please feel free to connect with me on Twitter or via email. MCEC strives to be responsive to the needs of our members.

Remember, we are all in this together!

Respectfully,

Andrea (Angie) Jasper
